Hello blog mates!  It has been over a month since the last blog, and I can’t stand it, so I must tell you about a great book that was just put on bookshelves last week.  Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw is the third book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.  The first two books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Rodrick Rules, are about a boy, Greg, and his middle school adventures with his family and friends.  Being in middle school is tough, and Greg tells all in this hilarious series.  All three books are quick and easy reads as Greg writes and draws in his diary, and they are appropriate for many ages.  Students in third grade and up should enjoy these books and adults will even get a few laughs, especially those who have or are around children.

I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting the author, Jeff Kinney, last year at a book festival, and even got my copy of the first book signed by him!  If you would like more information about him or the series, visit www.wimpykid.com.  In addition to the three books, he has also published Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Do-it-Yourself Book, in which kids can keep their very own diary, just like Greg’s.  He also plans to publish a fourth book later this year, and a fifth book next year, both a part of the same series.

If you have read these books and enjoyed them, you may also be interested in reading the Dear Dumb Diary series by Jim Benton, in which Jamie Kelly, a middle school student, writes in her diary about her experiences in middle school.  I have read the first two books in this series of seven, and they are also side-splittingly funny!

So, let me know what you think about either of these series, or if you have found a series similar to these.  Keep reading!

I really am going to have to borrow your copies of all the “Wimpy Kid” books! Mine are ALWAYS checked out and I’ve never gotten a chance to read them!

You’ve got to help me out, Mrs. Scott!

I think I can work something out! They’re always checked out because they are such good books, and I bet you can read all three in one sitting. They are that quick and that good! Hhmmm . . . . if I do this for you . . . .

Only kidding! I think I still owe you for letting me borrow your personal copy of New Moon before mine arrivedin the mail. I should have them with me next time I see you.

I thought that this was one of the better books in the series. It has a lot more weird stuff. george goes wild on a an all new adventure. Iread it at a Joseph Beth Boook store and couldn’t stop rading . I was there for about three hours laughing outloud. This book waas hilarious.

    Hey!

I loved this book. It was so funny. Expecially when he was on the way to church when he got there he had to wear his mom’s jacket in front of the girl he liked.

Have you got a book signed by Jeff Kinney? I haven’t but Mrs.S has.
