Second verse, same as the first…
And by that, dear students, I am referring to the fact that there are TWO (count them!) posts for this project. One is for the 5th and 6th graders and the other is for the 7th and 8th graders. Please do not confuse the two!
Welcome to what may be your first experience with blogging! In class, we are going to walk you through the process of responding to us teacher-types and to each other , but remember that this is part of your assignment for this 9 weeks. It can be lots of fun if you are willing to put some thought into your posts, BUT it can be very frustrating if you don’t. After all, responding to people who state their ideas clearly is SO much easier than struggling to figure out what someone is discussing!
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE WRITING YOUR COMMENTS ON THE CORRECT POST OR THEY WILL BE DELETED. I’m just telling. With that out of the way, on with the topic.
This is a two-part question.
- Name the title of your first project book and describe the main character. Include info such as the character’s age, physical features, and aspects of their personality.
AND
- Describe how you feel about the main character of your book. Do you like them? Dislike them? Do you think that you would want to interact with the character if he/she/it was a real person? Make sure that you tell us WHY you feel the way that you do.
Clear as mud? I hope so. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in person or email me.

The Adoration of Jenna Fox. The main character id Jenna Fox. She is 17 years old and she doesn’t exactly have a personality yet because she’s just waking up from a year long coma.
Jenna seems pretty cool but I don’t exactly know her personality mainly because she doesn’t even know her personality. She has convinced her mom or “Claire” to let her go to school. While being at her new charter school, she has met Ethan, Dane, and Allys. I don’t know if I would be friends with her because she doesn’t really know who she is except the things she’s been told and the videos she has watched.

The name of my first project book is Generation Dead by Daniel Waters. The main character is Pheobe. She is a friendly person who gets alond with almost anyone. Her and her friend Margi are usually together in their own group outside of everyone else. Pheobe is usually wearing black skirts with knee length black boots.
I really like Pheobe because she is one of the only people who try to communicate with the living impaired/differently biotic kids. I would really like to meet her if she was real so I could learn more about her and learn why she is trying to communicate with the living impaired/DB kids.

Have I told you lately how much I heart this book, Payton? If I haven’t, then I’m telling you now! Filmmakers often use zombies to represent something else. For example, George Romero made a comparison between zombies and zoned-out mall shoppers in his movie “Dawn of the Dead”. Do you think the “DB” kids in this book could be representing another group of people in our current society?
[Reply]
Payton B. Reply:

I think that they could represent people who aren’t really connected to socity, people who don’t like being around others or people that feel like they don’t belong because they are just a little different. The “DB” kids are slower at stuff than the regular teenagers, It takes them longer to answer question, and they are just not as quick at things. But I am like you I am in love with this book already. I am hoping to finish it this weekend.

A) The title of my book is All the Broken Pieces. The main character ( Matt ) is a boy from Vetnaim that an Americian soldier had to bring to America. Matt didn`t want to leave his mother and brother but his mom made him.She said she loved him but he didn`t belive her intil he broke down and told Rob ( a boy he played baseball with). Matt is a boy to himself he is secretive and don`t want to talk about his past.
B) The main character, Matt Pinn, is okay. he isn`t amazing but he isn`t lame either although his story is amazing but also sad! If he was real I would interact with him. I would LOVE to hear his story in person. !!!!

A) My book is called Sunrise over Fallujah, written by Walter Dean Myers. The main character in Robin Perry (aka birdy). Birdy is a very jumpy and nervous but don’t let it show. He doesn’t want to kill but instints kick in when he is scared. Pvt.Perry works with the CA, civilian affairs unit, which helps keep citizens safe during the war
B) I enjoy reading about my character, I like his personality alot because it is alot like mine. This book has worked it’s way up to my favorites. This book gave me an inside look at the war and i felt like I was there. Iwould be overjoyed to meet this solider.

The name of my book is Impossible. The main character is Lucy, she a 17 year old. It doesn’t really say what she looks like , but her personality is like a regular seventeen year old that worries about boys and life. I like her becauseshe has all of her prom night planed out before time and I plan before alot and so does she. Untill something goes wrong and she doesn’t do all her plans. So she kinda reminds me of my self in someways.

My main charecter’s name is Katsa and the book shes in is Graceling, by Kristen Cashore. Katsa is always tense and jittery because she had this special abiblity for survival, which makes her want to move all the time. She is also very good at fighting.
I feel that katsa is always under stress from her ability. I might hang around her if she didnt get mad so easy. I might still hang around her when shes not mad. Probably because i wouldnt mind learning some things from her.

Jessie is trying to help her mother find pills for the Clifton kids that are drying and there is no medicine.
How I feel about the main character Jessie is that she tries to help her family and other familiesand her mother. So Jessie is a girl who likes to help others out.I like Jessie because she is like me she tries hard to help others.Yes I would want to interact with Jessie because we could help others together.

The title of my book is Sunrise over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers. The main character of the book is Robin Perry or Birdy. I think the author made the Robin perfect for this book. I like him because if i was in the army i would want to meet someone like him in the army if i went. I would like to make friends with Birdy. He’s very nevous about killing and he thought the war would be like when his uncle was in the army when he went to Vietnam. I like his persinality because if i went to the war i would be something alot like that and be nervous but even be mad about 9-11 like he was. The title of my book is Thirsty. The main character (Chris) is a 13 year old boy who is short, slim, and wears braces. When Chris was born he got tied up in his umbilical chord and nearly died. One of the nurses that was there happened to be a vampire and she took him in a nother room and bit him, saving his life by making him become a vampire. Chris never knew he was a vampire until he was 13 years old, he did not want to be a vampire at all. Mostly because his entire town hated vampires, called them murderes, and killed them by sticking a stake through their hearts. When a vampire is thirsty it must drink blood, and if it doesn’t drink in a month, it will die. Chris doesn’t want to kill any living thing, and I respect that. While Chris is experiencing changes in his body like his teeth turning into fangs, he hasn’t been talking to his friends. He basically blows them off but he doesn’t want to tell his friends Jerk and Tom that he is a vampire… He can’t trust anyone except himself. The Chet, the celestial being shows up. He tells Chris about his vampirism and informed him that he has been chosen to defeat Tch’ Muchgar, the evil vampire lord by entering his world through a portal and activating the Arm of Moriator.
I did like this book except for the ending, because it didn’t end very well. It ended on a part about Chris being thirsty. And the only way he can control his thirst is by killing someone and drinking their blood… He doesn’t want to but if he doesn’t he will die.

Mrs. Northcutt Reply:
August 25th, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Kelly S. Reply:

Well, I think he ended up sucking an animals blood. As weird as that sounds, it’s still blood. I certainly hope he did, at least. Earlier in the book he did bite his arm and suck the blood from it… But I don’t think he will do that again.

Q: A) ” Every Soul A Star” is my first book. i have 3 main characters; Ally, Bree, and Jack.
Ally lives on a campground that her parents own. She and her family are getting the campground ready for campers because there is going to be an eclipse.
Bree is an A-Clique co-leader with parents that love science and the stars. She is going to move to the camp to manage it for a while.
Jack is a nobody who failed science and has to go to summer school. his teacher Mr. Silver calls and asks him to be his right-hand man to get out of summer school.
Q: A) I feel very good about how the characters are going to meet later on in the book. At first I didn’t understand why there were 3 different characters but now I love how they all play roles that are going to meet and become one.

[1.] ”CHAINS” is my first project book. The main character is Isabel. Isabel is a poor african american girl who lost both of her parents and has a littie 5-yr. old sister name Ruth. They are slaves of The Locktons, A very rich abusive married couple who live in New York City. Isabel has a dream to be free from being a slave and to go back to Rhode Island. She has a friend who has the same dream name Curzon, a boy of Bellinghams who wears a red floppy hat. And of course, There’s a war going on, and if the british win the battle, then Isabel will be free. However, The Locktons would keep turning Isabel’s upside down; For ex., They shiped Her sister, Ruth, to Charleston. And Her friend, Curzon, got into jail, And He was feeling feverish and hungry. So Isabel decided to leave The Locktons from being an abused slave, and get Curzon free from jail to paddle in a river to New Jersey.

How interesting to look at the Revolutionary War through such a unique perspective! Has reading this book made you think about how some people would have benefited if England had won the war?
And how did you personally feel about Isabel? Did you like or dislike her as a person?

You forgot to tell everyone what book you’re reading, Thomas! I know which one you’re talking about, but I’m sure that others don’t. Tell them!

I liked this book. It started out great, but got slow for me somewhere in the middle. I’m glad I stuck with it though, because I ended up really liking it later. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Very true! I’m a huge fan of this book because it’s funny and it has the drama angle. What do you think of the changes that Wallace keeps suggesting for “Old Shep, My Pal”?

1. My project book is called Thristy
The main character’s name is Chris he’s a high school student that has a crush on a popalur girl in school named Rebecca
He has a brother named Paul(I think) that really annoys him (and me for that fact)
His mother and father only stay together for Chris and Paul but when they move out they say their going to get a divorce (loving family isn’t it?)
Chris has to best friends one’s name is Michael but he goes by the name of Jerk
The other’s name is Tim (Once again i’m not sure)
2. I don’t think I would like to be around Chris much in real life because he’s kind of wierd (to me) And when he get’s angry no he doesnt turn into a Hulk. He attacks!

Having a friend who might attack you certainly would be a problem! How do you think that vampires in the world of this book compare with those in other novels that you have read?

A.The title of my book is “Gothic! Ten Original Dark Tales.” The title of my short story is “Morgan Roemar’s Boys.” In this story my character’s name is Ashley and she is sixteen and it doesn’t give alot of phyiscal features about her but she seems to like to work with and around scary atmospheres. But she seems brave enough to work there and she is very nice to try and help a ghost she doesn’t know anything about even though she gets mislead.
B.She would definitly be the kind of person i would surround myself with because she is brave but still scared of somethings and she is caring about people she doesn’t know and she doesn’t judge people she doesn’t know.

I think I told you this already, but I seem to recall that particular story as being one of my favorites in the book.
Have you really liked any of the others? Which ones?

I like books like this one, a collection of short stories. They do well for my short attention span! The story you mentioned sounds great, and if the others are as good, this book may have to go on my ‘to read’ list.

Freedom’s undercover work gets very dangerous the deeper he goes into Darkus’ organization. Do you think that you would be willing to do something dangerous to protect your family like Freedom does?

a) The name of my first project book is THE EARTH, MY BUTT, and OTHER BIG ROUND THINGS!!!!! The main character is Virginia Shreves a 15 year old girl who attends the private school Brewster in New York City. Virginia has a fairly wealthy family, but she really doesn’t care. She feels like the outcast of the family for many different reasons…..
* She’s fat and well the rest of her family is really thin
* She hates every sport, except baseball
* HATES the language french while her family speaks it
* & She never wins anything
Virginia has dirty blond hair with blue eyes and she ♥LOVES♥ to read teen magazines. She is just a regular, but she faces many troubles through her teen life. Anyone will fall in love with the story really fast.
What do you think might happen to her? Read and find out!!!
b) I can’t help but already feeling for Virginia and rooting for her in every possible way. She lives with a family who thinks they’re perfect, but she knows she isn’t. So she doesn’t bush things to the side or forget things so easily. Through the next little bit she will learn more about her family and herself!!!!
