2009 Book Projects - Fall · 5th Grade · 6th Grade · Books

Howdy, folks!

I hope that you kids have been enjoying your reading so far! There are some really excellent choices on your list and I hope that you’ve been able to get your hands on some books that have kept your attention! Oh, and I REALLY hope that you used part of the 3-day weekend to read! I know that I got quite a few comments to moderate over the break!

So here are the prompts of the week…

  • What book did you choose as your second project book? You really should be reading your second book by now, but I also know that some of you are on your third or fourth!

and

  • Explain how you decided what book you were going to read for this round. Maybe you didn’t get your first choice when we started, maybe you picked it based on another student’s blog responses maybe I recommended it to you or maybe it was a random choice that just sounded good at the time. Whatever it was, we want to know!

    Mrs. Northcutt Reply:

I know that I recommended it to you, but you should explain why you think I did! Maybe it has something to do with another book I saw you reading or something I know is a hobby of yours…

Why did she recommended to you ? Was another book you wanted unavailable ?

This was one of my picks for the 5th/6th grade book list. I am so glad someone has chosen to read it. I will warn you that it is a little strange. (I think most of Lois Lowry’s books are!) However, it is a wonderful story and I think you’ll really like it.

The book I chose as my second project book is “Moxy Maxwell Does Not Love Staurt Little”.

I chose this book as my second project book because, it was one of the books on my list, and Mackenzie said it was a great book.

    [Reply]

    Mrs. Northcutt Reply:

What did Mackenzie tell you about it? She’s way more talkative than to just say that it was “great”! I’ll bet she said a lot more than that.

    [Reply]

    Cameryn D Reply:

What Mackenzie told me about it was she gave me the breif outline of the story, and said it was a book that fit my personality. And you are right Mackenzie can get a little talkative!☻☺

    [Reply]

    Mrs. Northcutt Reply:

That’s more like it, Cameryn! We need to encourage Mackenzie A. to join this online conversation! I’d love to hear her side of the story… ;)

    Trace m Reply:

Why does Moxy Maxwell not like Staurt Little?

    [Reply]

    Cameryn D Reply:

Moxy does not like staurt little because she has to read it over the summer, because her class is going to take a test on it the first day of school. She would much rather play and have fun during summer.

    [Reply]

    Lauren H. Reply:

I agree with Mrs. Northcutt. I thought I told you? But I told Mackenzie first. Hope you like it! :p

    Cameryn D Reply:

You might have told me and I just forgot. I can get a little forgetfull!!!!But I LOVE the book!!!!!☻☺☻☺

Because in class we were reading The Cronicols of Narnia The Lion The Whitch and The Wardrobe.

    [Reply]

    Mrs. Northcutt Reply:

So, why did you think that reading “The Magician’s Nephew” would be a good idea? Do you like “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”? If so, then why do you feel that way?

    [Reply]

    Chelsea H Reply:

I think I picked The magicans nephew because it would tell my things about the series. Yes ilike The Lion,The Whitch and The Wardrobe it was exiting and somuch like the movie.

    [Reply]

    Mrs. S. Reply:

Yaaaayyyyy! I’m so glad you picked this one! I love that series and when I read that book, it gave me a lot of insight and cleared a lot of things up for me that I was curious about when reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Do you think you’ll go on to read the rest of the series?

(1). The name of my book is called Saxby Smart Private Detective in The Curse of the Ancient Mask and Other Case Files.

(2). The reason why I picked this book is because I love mystery books and this was a mystery book because Agent Saxby Smart was looking for clues like CSI does and then somehow he gets enough imformation to solve the clues/the mysterys.
