I’ve been searching the Internet to bring you, dear readers, something of great interest!
I know that you’ve seen movie trailers on DVDs and before films in the theater. Movie trailers are just advertisements for movies you haven’t seen yet. Well, book videos are advertisements for books that you haven’t READ yet. You can also think of them as digital booktalks, if you are so inclined.
Check some of these videos out and then GO CHECK OUT THE BOOKS!
Better yet, YOU send ME your own book videos and we’ll see about posting them here!
-Mrs. N
- Blood Beast (Demonata #5) by Darren Shan (available in November) – HarperCollins Canada
- Cut by Patricia McCormick and The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer are among the videos you’ll find at the Pima County Public Library TeenZone
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, and How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff can all be found at Teen Book Video Awards 2006
- There’s some cool stuff at KidVidLit including Jeff Smith’s Bone and author Meg Cabot describing her daily schedule.
- Tons of different book videos are available at Digital Booktalk, a site hosted by the University of Central Florida. Everything from classics (i.e. Dracula and Fahrenheit 451) to recent books (i.e. Twilight, So Yesterday, and Son of the Mob) are featured here, so there’s something for everyone!
- There are a couple of nifty videos for Frank Beddor’s The Looking Glass Wars books at the official site for the series! There’s lots of other book-related niftiness there if you decide to visit.
- One of the most popular books on the 2008 LG 8th Grade Book Project list is Heather Brewer’s Eighth Grade Bites and I can’t say that I blame my students for wanting to sink their teeth into this teenage vampire tale. Personally, I loved it! You can check out the video on the author’s official site.
